My wife just said to me that at least we can find out who is a registered sex offender and where they are living in our neighborhood . And she thanked God that Ally Jacobs, Campus Security Officer, University of California, Berkeley, had the presence of mind to report Garrido to the probation services. It is only her attentiveness that lead to these horrendous crimes being unearthed.
There are too many of these people in our society who could otherwise hide themselves and hide their background from us. We have a right to know who they are, where they live, what they do. Now the Probation Department and Police Department will both do a lot of heart searching as to why their visits to Garrido’s residence never resulted in the children’s discovery. It’s unbelievable that visits by probation officers and the Police never resulted in the property, garden and grounds being thoroughly examined. Astounding.
